Prospective candidates receive real-time information about this combined paid business education-and-training program, meet college and corporate representatives, and learn what it takes to earn a certification as an Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) with the elite of San Antonio’s $40 billion advanced manufacturing business community, explained Donlee Wilson and John Haral. Wilson is the college’s advanced manufacturing technology program coordinator, and Haral is college’s aircraft, construction, and manufacturing department chair.

The college and the federation recruit 40 students each year, with classes starting in the fall. St. Philip's College's unique associate of applied science advanced manufacturing technology degree program in partnership with TX FAME is a business opportunity featuring a college degree following two years of paid employment in advanced manufacturing at the facilities of sponsoring employers CPS Energy, H-E-B, Takata, Toyota and Toyotetsu Texas, Inc. Three St. Philip's College alumni cohorts of the program have worked three days a week for sponsoring employers, and upon graduation each of the alumni became eligible for an entry-level full-time position with their sponsoring employers. Women and minorities are well-represented among the alumni of this program, both Wilson and Haral shared.
